Inter-generational Mission Trip: Rainbow Acres

First Baptist Church is engaging in an inter-generational Mission Experience to Rainbow Acres, a residential community in Camp Verde Arizona, administered by American Baptist Churches USA.  We will be serving as workers and friends to persons who have developmental disabilities that prevent them from living on their own, but who thrive in community.

August 6-13, 2016.  We will leave Sioux Falls on Saturday, August 6 and return on Saturday August 13.

Who can go:

Persons age 10-senior adult who are members/friends of First Baptist Church.  We are asking for interested persons to go through an interview and all applicants must be physically fit due to the nature of work involved.

What will we do?

We will be doing landscaping, painting, window washing, other labor projects as needed.  In the evenings, we will build relationships with the ranchers by helping the learning center staff – reading to campers and offering spiritual direction as well as assisting with physical labor.

 Am I fit enough?

The persons who will travel to Rainbow Acres must be physically fit.  The ministry that we will offer involves a considerable amount of sustained physical activity.
