Associate Pastor for Ministry Development
Pastor Kelly oversees the organizational systems of the church and helps keep the organizational big picture in mind. Pastor Kelly shares staff supervision responsibilities with and also oversees First Baptist Small Group Ministry; Connections Ministry (Outreach and Assimilation of guests); and Partner (volunteer) development. Pastor Kelly is a member of the preaching team and joined First Baptist staff on December 1, 2014.
Associate Pastor to Children and Families
My ministry includes all things ‘kids!’ I work with infants through 5th graders and their families. From childcare to Sunday school, Wednesday night church, VBS, Christmas ministries and everything in between, I love shepherding kids as they learn more about Jesus and what it means to be a follower of Christ. I also enjoy leading chapels for the preschoolers and First BASE daycare kids of our Children’s Center. I joined the First Baptist team in August 2011.
An interesting fact about me is that I tend to trip up and down stairs a lot. One time I fell down some stairs holding a plate of cookies and a glass of milk and did not spill even a drop of milk. I’m talented that way!
Associate Pastor to students
I provide leadership for our middle and high school ministry called ONE Student Ministry as well as creating meaningful connection and community among our young adults. From Wednesday night programming, to Wednesday small groups, to Sunday evening Life Groups for middle/high school, to Young Adult Life Groups, it is all given life and energy because of our incredible team of 20+ volunteers. My passion is to create and support a team ministry where volunteers are excited to invest in the lives of a few students and to do for a few what they wish they could do for many. The next generation is worth knowing and loving and I desire to help them find belonging in the Kingdom of God.
I love road biking, watching college football (Go Big Red!), drinking good coffee, hammocking, playing with my cat, GiGi, and being a nerd about anything Marvel related.
Associate Pastor for Congregational Care
My main focus is Senior Adults. I lead three Bible Studies each week, visit at the hospital weekly and hospice as needed, take communion to home-bound people on a regular schedule, and visit other Seniors who are struggling or in transition. I also assist in Sunday worship, conduct funerals and organize three annual events (Spring Fling dinner, Hymn Sing and Memory service). I joined the staff in the fall of 2014 in a part time capacity.
I enjoy reading inspirational fiction, writing and editing. I also like good baking, but not with pumpkin.
Michelle Van't Hul
My responsibilities include accounting, human resources, IT, and helping with the online presence of the church. I joined the team in December 2015 as the Ministry Assistant.
An interesting fact about me is that I am a real food junkie…that loves any baked goods that come around! My favorite thing to drink is hot water with lemon.
It is my job to make people feel welcome, both on the phone and in person. It is also my job to know what is going on around the church and where people are in the building. The thing I hear the most is “Maybe you know…” If you see a piece of paper around the building, it most likely came from my computer or touched my hands. I joined First Baptist in November of 2016.
Children's Center Director
It is my job to provide leadership and manage the day to day operations of the First Baptist Church Children's Center and services in conjunction with the mission and vision of First Baptist Church. I joined the team in July 2016.
An interesting fact about me is that I can say the alphabet backwards...thanks to an alphabet picture by my bed as a child! One of my favorite things to do is play volleyball.
